Bloodaxe Adds Ambus, Brand and Steen to Season 2 Cast
Prime Video’s historical epic Bloodaxe is expanding its Season 2 cast with three new recurring roles: Maddy Ambus, Steven Brand, and Lasse Steen. The casting news comes as production continues on the series in Ireland, with MGM Television aboard as the producer.
Ambus, known for The Return of Stanley Atwell and Utopia, Brand, seen in Saw X and The Scorpion King, and Steen, known for The Promised Land and What Lies Between Us, join the lineup for Season 2 in recurring capacity. Steen’s character was first introduced in Season 1.
The show centers on the rise of Norse raiders Erik Bloodaxe and his wife Gunnhild, Mother of Kings, tracing their struggle for Norway’s throne amid a landscape of rival factions, shifting loyalties, and betrayals. The Season 2 synopsis hints at an era of war and political chaos drawing in rulers from neighboring kingdoms and beyond.
Season 2 is currently in production in Ireland, with MGM Television producing. Michael Hirst and Horario Hirst serve as co-creators, showrunners, writers and executive producers. Additional executive producers include Morgan O’Sullivan (O’Sullivan Productions), Steve Stark (Toluca Pictures), Arturo Interian, John Weber, and Sheila Hockin.
Ambus is represented by Thrive Talent, Brand by Luc Chaudhary at International Artists Management, and Steen by Teamplayers in Denmark.
The reading of the press materials indicates a continued push to expand Bloodaxe’s ensemble as it builds toward Season 2’s global launch on Prime Video.
