Neil Patrick Harris to headline Damn Yankees Broadway revival in Spring 2027

Deadline reports that a new Broadway revival of Damn Yankees is set for Spring 2027. Neil Patrick Harris will star as Mr. Applegate, with Julianne Hough cast as Lola and Austin Scott as Joe Boyd.

Previews are scheduled to begin at the Marquis Theatre on March 24, 2027, with the official opening night on April 20, 2027. Sergio Trujillo will direct and choreograph the production, and additional casting will be announced soon.

The revival features a new book by Will Power and Doug Wright, with additional lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, updating the 1955 musical score by Richard Adler, Jerry Ross, George Abbott, and Douglass Wallop. The story centers on Joe Boyd, a Baltimore Orioles fan who makes a deal with the alluring Lola for a second chance for himself and his team.
