Pearl Jam reveals Abe Laboriel Jr. as new drummer at Ohana Festival

Pearl Jam revealed Abe Laboriel Jr. as the band’s new drummer during a surprise Friday-night set at Ohana Festival. The performance, billed as Eddie Vedder and Friends, turned out to feature Pearl Jam with Laboriel behind the kit.

Laboriel, a longtime collaborator with Paul McCartney, had previously worked with Vedder on the singer’s 2022 solo album Earthling.

The lineup change follows Matt Cameron’s departure after 27 years with the group, with the band citing the physical demands of touring and Cameron’s desire to pursue other projects as reasons for his exit.

Ohana Festival’s Sunday headlining slot remains Pearl Jam’s only other scheduled show of 2026.

During the reveal show, the set opened with Corduroy and included Hail Hail, Scared of Fear, Wishlist and Dark Matter.
