The Deadline report confirms that John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey have joined the Season 3 cast of HBO’s The Last of Us. The trio’s addition is notable for fans of the video game franchise, since Alexander and Bailey previously voiced Lev and Abby in The Last of Us: Part II.

In the live-action series, Goodman will play a character named Joey, Alexander portrays Paco, and Bailey takes on Elizabeth, described as one of the leaders of the Seraphites. Kyriana Kratter continues to portray Lev, while Kaitlyn Dever remains as Abby. The piece also notes several other new cast members for Season 3, including Li Jun Li as Miriam, Peter Sarsgaard as Amon, Jason Ritter as Hanley, Patrick Wilson as Jerry (Abby’s father), and Michelle Mao, Clea DuVall, and Jorge Lendeborg as Manny (the latter replacing Danny Ramirez for scheduling reasons).

Deadline’s reporting also covers broader context about Season 3. No plot details have been revealed, but the season is expected to center on Abby Anderson’s arc, with Seraphites playing a major role in the storyline. Joel, who was killed in the Season 2 finale, is not expected to appear, though the possibility of flashbacks has been left open.

Showrunner Craig Mazin is continuing in his role for Season 3, with Neil Druckmann remaining a key creative force. The season is scheduled to premiere in 2027, and although HBO officials have not confirmed it as the final installment, Mazin has publicly signaled that the plan is for this to be the concluding run. Katie Campione contributed to the Deadline report.
