serpentwithfeet signs to One Little Independent Records and announces Sentinel EP

serpentwithfeet has announced Sentinel, a new EP due December 4. It marks the New York-based singer-songwriter’s first release with One Little Independent Records after nearly a decade on Secretly Canadian. The title track is out now and described as a reverent love song inspired by sea shanties and the artist’s gospel roots.

In a statement accompanying the release, he discusses the thematic approach of Sentinel, noting that the writing wrestled with homoeroticism and the ways men socialize when they’re isolated, before turning to reflections on patriarchy. He says: “homoeroticism and the ways that men socialize when they’re isolated.” He adds that thinking about patriarchy made him wonder what happens when we experience that erotically.

Sentinel follows his 2024 album GRIP. The EP tracklist, as released, includes Sentinel, Henchmen, Invocation, His student, Of Course, Daddy, and Puckish featuring TYGAPAW.
